According to the New York Post, in 2023, Holly Hill was reportedly served a margarita. This, whereas eating at Hacienda Las Margaritas Bar & Grill on Valentine’s Day. Per her mom, Kelly Hunter, Holly’s “mouth was on fire, and she knew something wasn’t right.” Furthermore, Holly reportedly “jumped up and ran to the bathroom, started throwing up, started rinsing her mouth out with water.”

“For the past two and a half years, while continuing to teach and care for her family, Holly faced a long and difficult medical journey,” her obituary reportedly reads.
Daily Mail provides that afterward, Hill made “multiple trips” to emergency rooms for therapy for the “severe chemical burns in her esophagus.” Per her mom, Hill sued the restaurant for her accidents and reached a confidential settlement.

On October 1, Holly Hill reportedly took to Facebook, sharing a photograph of herself in a hospital mattress amid her “30th surgery” on her esophagus.
“It’s been one year and seven-and-a-half months since I took one swallow of what I thought was my margarita,” she wrote, per Daily Mail. “To say it’s changed my life is an understatement. I continue to pray and believe in my doctor to lead the way through this never-ending journey that I now call life.”
Additionally, days earlier than her passing on October 23, Hill was reportedly informed that the outlet in her esophagus was “a bit better and not as inflamed.” Amid this time, Hill was reportedly utilizing a feeding tube. Additionally, she was instructed to return to the physician for a “swallow test.” Upon her getting ready to go in for the check, medical officers reportedly misplaced her pulse.
Now, per the New York Post, Oklahoma investigators are trying into Holly Hill’s case and loss of life.
“The number one thing that we really want at this point, and out of this, is we want people to be aware of what happened at that restaurant and to quit supporting them. We want them to be held accountable for taking my daughter’s life, because they did. It might have been a long fight, but ultimately, they are the cause,” Kelly Hunter reportedly acknowledged per Daily Mail.
