We discovered simply final week that the Paranormal Activity franchise is gearing up for a model new installment from Paramount and Blumhouse, with James Wan approaching board to supply the movie alongside Jason Blum and franchise creator/authentic director Oren Peli.
But who’s directing? THR studies tonight that rising Canadian filmmaker Ian Tuason (Undertone) will direct the eighth installment within the Paranormal Activity movie franchise.
The Hollywood Reporter notes, “The Toronto-based writer-director made live-action VR horror shorts, which racked up millions of views on YouTube and even a showcase at SXSW. He then made a splashy debut this summer when his feature Undertone premiered at the 29th Fantasia International Film Festival, where it won the audience award for Canadian movie.”

In Undertone, “Paranormal podcast host Evy moves into her dying mother’s house to be her primary caregiver. When she receives audio recordings of a young pregnant couple experiencing supernatural noises, she realizes the woman’s story mirrors her own. Each new recording scratches at her sanity, drawing her into a fate she cannot escape.”
